Hurricane IKE Evacuation

As I'm sure you know Hurricane Ike reeked havoc in Texas. We were very fortunate not to have received any of the fall out of the hurricane as Austin was on the dry side of the rotation. But as of last Tues. Austin was still in the direct line of being hit until it turned Northeast on Wed. towards Galveston/Houston.
Thurs. was my first day back to work after 2 weeks off and Seton Network received 177 patients evacuated from UTMB of Galveston. We, at SMCA received our first patient shortly after 12pm via AirLife and the patients continued to arrv. via aircraft, ambulance and bus throughout the afternoon and into the early hours of the morning. All the patients arrived safely and most importantly were out of harms way. Below are pics of the evac. in progress.

My prayers go out to all the people displaced and effected by this devastating event. I wish more people would have followed orders to evacuate, mother nature can be so destructive and should not be taken lightly!
